This is the second part of my walk on West Queen West ( between Bathurst and Trinity Bellwoods Park). Click here for Part I. The stores in this area are so unique. Lots of artsy stuff, original fashion, lovely furniture stores and lots of great finds for kids. The things you find here, you won’t find anywhere else. Stores here open rather late and are closed on the odd day so if you have something specific in mind, best to call ahead to check their schedule. Check in for more of West Queen West tomorrow. Maybe you’ll want to head over this weekend!
Click “Continued…” to read about the first 3 stores.

Zili Otto (764 Queen St. W.) is an amazing store owned by a husband/wife team (Jennifer + Bruno). Beautiful framed original illustrations and baby clothing designed by Jennifer. Wooden toys and book ends…and MUCH MORE. All original and oh so lovely. My favourite find were these two birdhouses for The Girl’s room ($25 ea.).
Kolkid

Kolkid (674 Queen St. W.) is another beautiful store for kids. I loved everything and could have browsed forever. I adore their Inke line of wall art – this adorable elephant is part of the wildlife series that includes monkeys, giraffes, lions and more in a variety of vivid colours and patterns.
Type Books

Type Books (883 Queen St. W.) is a lovely little book store with a great kids’ section. I love children’s books and always look for ones that convey a special message to readers of any age. The books in this store are really well-chosen and you are bound to find something special. My find was a book by Cynthia Rylant called All In A Day. What an inspiring read about all that is in a day – the opportunities that arise with every morning and the chances that can’t return. There are a lot of hopeful messages in this book for kids and adults alike. Love it!
