Enjoy the annual Pioneer Festival at the Black Creek Pioneer Village (Jane & Steeles) on Saturday, 10-4:30.

The Queen West Art Crawl takes place at Trinity Bellwoods Park., Saturday & Sunday 11-6.  I love outdoor art festivals, and this one has a kidzone where kids get to do some art work, and the park has a playground.

Thornhill Village Festival is taking place on Saturday 9:30-4:30.

Pumpkinland is already open at Whittamore’s Farm.  We love their pumpkin canon show and the wagon ride through the haunted forest!

Sugar Beach…as you see in the above photo, it looks fantastic.   Canada’s Sugar Beach (Jarvis & Queen’s Quay E) is a park on the water built adjacent to the Redpath Sugar Factory.  The beach allows visitors to relax, play in the sand or watch boats on the lake.  A water feature beside the beach makes cooling off fun for adults and kids.  The only problem with this beach is that you can’t swim in the lake!

Don’t forget about Harbourfront – kids love all the sights and sounds, the bridge, sailboats…and H2O Park boasts a huge sandbox to play in.  This weekend, there is a Mathemagic show your kids might enjoy!

Doors Open Toronto takes place all weekend.  Close to 150 buildings of architectural, historic, cultural and/or social significance open their doors to the public. Admission is FREE.

Wings & Wheels Heritage Festival takes place at Downsview  Park.  The Canadian Air & Space Museum’s annual heritage festival and fundraiser takes over the tarmac to celebrate the history of flight in Canada.  See dozens of vintage and modern aircraft with a display of classic cars, motorcycles and military vehicles.

Suitcase Theatre presents a musical called The Friend Ship @ High Park on Sunday 2pm-3pm.

The Peel Children’s Water Festival takes place at Heart Lake Conservation Area.  This is an opportunity to learn about the importance of water through hands-on learning.

The 13th Annual Mill Pond Splash, a popular eco-festival in Richmond Hill, will be taking place on Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Mill Pond Park from 12:00 – 4:30 p.m.  This is a lively, family oriented event showcasing environmental conservation.

Spring Fever in Roncesvalles – On Saturday May 14 (10am-6pm), Roncesvalles Village will be celebrating spring with their annual sidewalk sale. Merchants will be on the street, and between noon and four the Roncesvalles Village have bouncy castles, treats, face painters, balloon clowns, musicians and entertainers to the street.

Help plant 2,000 trees at Downsview Park this Sunday to celebrate Earth Day!

Sunday is Teacher Day @ The Toronto Zoo.  That means that if you have an OCT card, you and a guest get free admission.  If you don’t like teachers, don’t go to the zoo this Sunday.

What’s open?  The Eaton Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Vaughan Mills, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Square One, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Pacific Mall, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The CN Tower will be open and they are offering a $35 Family Day admission pass, good for three visitors.  Sesame Street characters will be around!

The Art Gallery of Ontario has some great activities planned for families and will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Family Day activity packs are available with lots of great options.

The Ontario Science Centre, the Royal Ontario Museum, and movie theatres will also be open.

Stay away from all the “Family Fests” that offer face painting and bouncy castles.  Your kids and hundreds of others will have to wait in line for at least 45 minutes to jump for five minutes.  Been there, done that, it was awful.  Not to mention all the viruses they can get

This weekend, Feb. 12th & 13th @ Downsview Park.  Meet and learn about small pets (guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, ferrets, etc.), cats and dogs of different sizes, shapes and colours, all waiting for someone with a big heart to bring them home.  We have never been to this event so no guarantees.  It does sound like it would be fun for the kids though.  There is more info on this website, scroll all the way down to the bottom for the relevant details.
